This article aimed to analyze the socioeconomic characteristics of family smallholder farmers benefiting from Rural Extension Services in the districts of Sanga and Muembe, in the province of Niassa Northern Mozambique. Data were collected between January and June 2020, covering 220 family farmers. For the selection of participants, simple probability sampling was used. The study is based on qualitative and quantitative methodology. Primary data were obtained through a questionnaire and visits to some farmers, the consultation of secondary sources was done to enrich the discussion. Data were analyzed using the SPSS software, from which descriptive statistics were used, and a she-square test were performed to assess the association of variables. The results show that family smallholder farmers largely depend on family members as labor on the farm.
