Abstract

This paper aimed to examine the relation between ball circulation, through the rhythm of ball transmission (RBT), and the Length of Offensive Sequences of the Spanish National Soccer Team in the 2010 FIFA® World Cup. The sample comprised 608 offensive sequences in the seven games played. For analysis of rhythm of ball transmission, the RBT index was used. It was emplyed the descriptive analysis and, the analysis of the relation between the variables was performed through the Spearman’s Correlation test. Results presented negative correlation between RBT and the Length of Offensive Sequences, what displays inversely proportional values between the variables. It is concluded that the decrease of RTB occasioned raise in the length of actions of ball possession from the Spanish National Team during the 2010 FIFA® World Cup.
