Abstract

The goalkeeper performs an extremely important and decisive function for a soccer match. In general, the studies which use the goalkeeper in its sample do not respect the specificity principle of position. Consequently, this study’s goal was to verify the possible differences between dominant and non-dominant sides and its relation with the goalkeeper’s laterality in soccer. For this purpose, a goalkeeper was evaluated (175,5cm height; 77,7kg weight; 20 years old; fat percentage 24,4%). The participant had 21 anatomic points marked to further kinematics analysis. The vertical displacement (DV) and horizontal displacement (DH) obtained by the center mass calculation (CM). Vertical jumps Squat Jump (SJ) and Counter Movement Jump (CMJ). Through a questionnaire, it was obtained the individual’s laterality. It was not observed any statistical differences between lateral jumps to the right and to the left. It was observed a low CV% (DVE = 4,32% and DVD = 2,3%) and ET (DVE = 0,03m and DVD = 0,01 m). It was observed a low CV% between DHE (8,53%), which also occurred in DHD (4,40%); the ET was low (DHE = 0,09 m and DHD 0,04 m). The DV of SJ was 0,57±0,06 m, and of CMJ, 0,55±0,02 m. It was possible to conclude that there was no significant difference in the performance of DV and DH to the right and left sides; however, there is indication that there is bigger variation in the performance of the non-dominant side.
