Abstract

The Boards of Mosaics of Conservation was created in 2002 for the environmental area. This body aims to unite efforts and streamline the integratedmanagement of protected areas. This paper presents the results of two years of creating the Mosaico Veredas-Peruaçu. Through content analysis of theminutes, participant observation and semi-structured interview, we discuss the functioning of the board and the "donation" of members. The data indicate thatthe board is a sphere of institutionalized participation and that the donation is present. The work expands the possibilities for use of the gift paradigm as lens tounderstand the social and environmental reality in Brazil.
