Efficiency analysis of public resources directed to education: study in the municipalities of Paraná

This study aims to analyze the efficiency of public resources devoted to education in the municipalities of Paraná . For it was held descriptive research conducted through document analysis and quantitative data approach , in consultation with the Finance database Brazil (FINBRA) and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics ( IBGE ) . The research meets the state's 399 , excluding those municipalities that did not have all the information proposed for the study , resulting in a sample of 367 municipalities . For the analysis of efficiency , Data Envelopment Analysis ( DEA ) was used . It was observed that the most effective are those municipalities that have fewer than 30 thousand . It was also found that among the 15 least efficient municipalities of Paraná are Curitiba and Londrina - largest cities in the state. It was concluded that with regard to public resources devoted to education , the smallest municipal districts tend to have a more efficient management.
