Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the effects of performance-related pay (PRP) on the public servants' activity. It was observed that the literature is
divergent when it comes to the association between benefits and performance improvement in the public sector. In order to endow our research and to clarify
this mentioned divergence, we developed an empirical model in pursuance of measuring the effects of PRP programs on servers' activity. Afterwards, tests
were took in a case study about a performance-related pay (PRP) program that was tested on public servants in public schools in the state of São Paulo. The
aim was to identify the program's impact on the performance of school principals and teachers. Since these servers are a part of the educational system, it was
also tested whether the effects of this program have any impact on the performance of these teachers' and principals' students.
