O Uso de Tecnologias de Gestão por Instituições de Segurança Pública e Defesa Social: Análise Bibliométrica de Tendências, Temas e Padrões de Colaboração

Research Objective: To conduct a bibliometric analysis on the use of management technologies in public security and social defense.
Theoretical Framework: We employed the laws of bibliometrics, such as Lotka's Law, Bradford's Law, Price's Law, and Zipf's Law, as the theoretical foundations of this research.
Methodology: We conducted a search for articles in the WoS and SCOPUS databases, using the descriptors "police" and "management technologies." We selected 148 articles from 87 scientific journals published between 2017 and 2022. The bibliometric analysis considered indicators such as annual growth, average document age, references, authors, and co-authors per document.
Results: The distribution of impact in journals highlights interdisciplinarity and concentration in some specific journals. There is inequality in academic productivity, with the majority of authors publishing only one article. The most cited keywords indicate interest in technological innovations and smart criminal justice, driven by technological advancements.
Originality: This study contributes to the advancement of knowledge by applying the laws of bibliometrics in the context of management technologies in public security and social defense, providing insights into trends, themes, and collaboration patterns in the field.
Theoretical and Practical Contributions: The obtained results can assist researchers interested in studying the use of technologies by police agencies and their impact on corporate actions. Additionally, public security and social defense managers can benefit from this information, gaining insights into practices and challenges faced in the field, as well as guidance to enhance the effectiveness of the criminal justice system and ensure community safety.
