FORMALISATION AND INCOME GENERATION: THE CASE OF ADVICE IN PADARIA ARTESANAL COMUNITÁRIA "MÃOS DE FIBRA"

Abstract

This experience report is derived from a work of extension with the goal of providing technical advice and skilled to solidarity economic enterprise “Padaria Artesanal Comunitária Mãos de Fibra” located in rural area of Viçosa-MG. The Bakery has the characteristic of being predominantly made up by rural women. These have been developing the production and sale of homemade breads. Much of the production revenue recovers the tradition of their ancestors. From this perspective, this diversity of food production resulted in the creation of a new service, called “lanchão”, equivalent to “coffee breaks” served at events. Among the specific objectives, actions are directed towards the formalization of the enterprise in an association and aggregation of value to the handcraft and agribusiness products already marketed in order to qualify for inclusion of the group in specialized markets. Among the results, it is perceived that there were improvements in the community since the formalization of the enterprise “Associação dos Agricultores Familiares Mãos de Fibra”, because it allowed the realization of a formal organizational structure and self-sustaining, enabling provide decent working conditions, increase production and optimize the economic and social outcomes. Thus, by providing capacitation to the members of the association, the extension project qualified the possibilities of the families to become active agents of the local development process, also contributing to socioeconomic sustainability and creating conditions for the participants to provide better income and quality of life.
