Abstract

We analyze the implications of adopting Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) as part of the methodology used in extension actions carried on with family farmers in Ouro Preto-MG in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. In such a case, ICTs were used as mediators of extension actions in general and, specifically, as tools to support the commercialization of agroecological products during the COVID-19 pandemic. From this experience, we seek to outline considerations about the use of ICTs in the extension process in general and, specifically, in the work with rural populations, subject to social and digital exclusion. From the results of the experience, we consider that the use of ICTs as part of the extension methodology presents potentials and challenges for the realization of the extension in an inclusive manner.
