Abstract

The rural world becomes a space increasingly heterogeneous and diverse, in which the youth is affected in more dramatic by dilution of boundaries between urban and rural areas, associated with the lack of prospects for the living of the family farm. Thus, the present study aimed to know the projects and life chances of young rural people inserted in rural social movements, in particular the Youth Ministry (PJ) in the municipality of Araponga-MG. As technical research was done using semi-structured questionnaire administered through 12 youngsters, aged between 15 and 19 years, divided proportionally by sex. The results indicate that social movements has enabled considerable juveniles progress in the city of Araponga, to develop strategies that meet the demands of family farming, since the organization of production and marketing to the access to credit, contributing to the site development by building and strengthening the social capital. Moreover, the young participants of social movements pose as life project to remain on the field, combining farm work with other community alternatives of income generating. Thus, it is highlighted the importance of public policies in the process of insertion and attraction of young rural people that result in economic independence and improved quality of life.
