Abstract

The weeds are one of the factors that more influence the growth, development and yield of the cowpea. Thus, the aim of this research was analyze the efficiency and phytotoxic effect of different rates of diuron (diuron SC), metolachlor (dual gold) and pendimethalin (herbadox 500) on the control weeds in the cowpea. The experiment was carried under rainfed conditions in Fazenda Lavoura Seca, Quixadá, CE. The sprayed herbicide was realized in pre emergence at cowpea and weed. The rates of each herbicide were calculated obeying the following criterion: 0.5 = half the recommended rate, 1,0 = recommended rate, 1.5 = recommended rate + half the recommended rate. At the end of the experiment it was found that: the cowpea showed phytotoxicity to use herbicide among 14 and 21 AAD; the herbicides diuron and metolachlor showed a rate "middle" in control weed, while the pendimethalin wasn't efficient for those function.
