Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The article follows the standards and bibliographic requirements in “ Author Guidelines”
  • The text of the paper has undergone a detailed review, ensuring quality of writing. At the work there is a sufficiently clear exposure of the quantitative and or qualitative methods used in the article.
  • The submission file is in .doc extension and should not exceed 2MB.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being evaluated for publication in any other journal. The article was not, published fully or partially, in the annals of conferences, meetings, symposiums and other events, otherwise, specify the annals and year of publication in "Comments Editor."
  • The identification of authorship of the work was based in the file and Properties option in Word, thus ensuring the criterion secrecy of the journal, if subjected to evaluation in pairs, as Ensuring instructions available in Blind Pairs Evaluation.

Guidelines for Authors

 Submitting articles and case studies on SCRIBES - Brazilian Journal of Management and Secretarial Studies is free of charge.

The articles must be submitted using the template in this link.

Attention: The template can be downloaded after logging in our platform.

 

Authorship

 A maximum number of 4 authors per article is allowed and all of them must have an account on SCRIBES’ website.

The authors’ names should be uploaded in a separate file, jointly with their email and a brief curriculum certifying their qualifications in the respective subject area.

A single author/co-author can feature in a maximum one article per year. Submitted articles must also be claimed and signed by Doctors, Masters, PhD and Master students, Postgraduates (MBA/Specialisation), Postgraduate students (MBA/Specialisation), Graduates, and Undergraduate students. Regarding these last four categories, when it comes to submitting a co-written article, it is of utmost importance that at least one of the authors has a PhD title.

Languages

Articles can be submitted in Portuguese, in English, in Spanish, and in French. However, there should always be English versions of its title, abstract, and keywords.

 

Formatting

The articles must be submitted using the template in this link.

 Page format: A-4 (29,7 x 21cm).

Margins: top: 3 cm; left: 3 cm; bottom: 2 cm; right: 2 cm.

Text editor: Word for Windows 6.0 or follow ups.

Font: Times New Roman, size 12.

Line spacing: 1,5.

Paragraph alignment: justified.

Articles must have between 15 to 22 pages and should not exceed 8000 words, including:

  • Title (in both original language, if applicable, and English)
  • Abstract and 3 keywords (in both original language, if applicable, and English)
  • Introduction
  • Theoretical Frame of Reference
  • Methodology
  • Findings and Analysis
  • Conclusion
  • References

 

Title and subtitle: both must be visible on the article’s front page. If a subtitle is present, it should feature separated by a colon (:) sign, in Portuguese and English.

Abstract: it should not exceed 1000 characters. Automatically translated abstracts into English are not accepted (such as Google-translated texts). The abstract must contain clear information on the paper’s objective, the theoretical frame of reference adopted, its main methodological considerations (when applicable) and the more relevant results.

Keywords: they must be divided by a semicolon.

Footnotes: they are not advised against but should be used with the least possible frequency, as we include our own during the editing process.

Sections: Home - Paragraph - Spacing - Before: 0 pt and After: 12 pt. Do not include any points/marks between number and text.

Charts, tables, graphs, illustrations must include their respective legends, as well as a citation of the original source. An identification number and designation should also feature on top of an illustration (Table no. 2). The author should be able to differentiate between tables and charts.

Citations and References: they must include all sources of all information cited in the text, as per the APA in-text citation style (American Psychological Association). We strongly recommend that authors read carefully the orientation on citations and references as provided by APA.
