Abstract

The evaluative act is a natural element present in the daily life of the human being and carried out constantly in different situations, from the simplest to the most complex ones. Even if in the daily life the term is object of different meanings and interpretations, in the school context the assessment assumes more complex meanings and the possibility of several questions and reflections. This study aims to understand the sense and the meanings attributed by students and secretarial professionals to the roles played by the teacher and the students to the assessment of learning in the undergraduate education in secretarial science. The data-collection instruments used in this research were two semistructured questionnaires applied to eighteen students of an undergraduate secretarial science course and eight professionals from the area already in the job market. The discussion on the results of this research points to the need for stablishing a stimulating environment for learner autonomy, hence self-assessment.
