Abstract

This article presents exploratory study about the program Município VerdeAzul, established in 2007 by the state government of São Paulo as an incentive to municipalities that operate on improving environmental conditions. The research analyzed the municipalities of the Grande ABC (State of São Paulo). The analysis prioritized three policies of the Program: Treated Sewage, Solid Waste and Environmental Education. Ribeirão Pires and São Caetano do Sul had the best average, followed by Santo André. The results show that when it comes to the Treated Sewage policy, São Caetano do Sul is better positioned; about the Solid Waste Policy, the highlighted is Santo André; and about Environmental Education, all of the cities have a description and evidence of environmental education.
