PROPOSAL OF AN INDEX OF CONFORMITY TO VOISIN RATIONAL GRAZING (VRG) – STUDY IN THE SETTLEMENT ANTONIO TAVARES – SÃO MIGUEL DO IGUAÇU – PR

Abstract

The dairy cattle is the main activity developed in the Settlement Antonio Tavares, and thus ensures the maintenance of families in their production units. The aim of this study was to evaluate the sustainability of dairy of the Settlement Antônio Tavares. The average annual cost to produce milk of families settled was R$ 12,346.56 and net income achieved during the year was R$ 10,985.03. The cost per liter of milk was R$ 0.28 and operating income was R$0.32 per liter of milk produced on average. The feed cost produced on site was R$ 5,853.12 and with food purchased outside the production unit was R$ 4,236.25. The productivity gained by families was 8.8 liters/cow/day and total annual production was 35,770 liters. The average score for the IC (Index of conformity) – VRG - was 67.66%. This index it is a methodology for evaluating the degree of conformity to the VRG that probably still needs to be improved. However it can be considered an instrument that quantifies its adoption and, therefore, can be a useful tool for the development of VRG Land Reform in the settlements.
