Abstract

The effect of soil preparation and nitrogen dose on grain and straw dry matter yield and N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S and Zn accumulation in corn plants (Zea mays L.) cultivated under irrigation were evaluated in field experiments in Latossolo Eutrophic Yellow, at the experimental farm of the Centro Universitário Vila Velha, in Cariacica, ES, Brazil,. The soil was preparation followed either no tillage, conventional tillage with disk plow or conventional tillage with moldboard plow. The nitrogen was applied in cover at the dose of 0, 60, 120 or 240 kg ha-1. The maximum grain and straw dry matter yield and nutrient accumulation were found in the no tillage system. The highest utilization efficiency of the applied N occurred at the dose of 60 kg N ha-1.
