Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the level of noise emitted by different equipments used in the food analysis laboratory of the Food Technology Department of the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro. The data were collected with use of a digital decibel meter in the radial distances of up to 7 meters from the source, at the ear level of a laboratory technician. The noise emitted by the grinder-chopper was higher than the permitted standards at all distances.
