Abstract

The soil bin is an important tool to study the dynamic soil-machine interaction. The objective of this work was to construct and evaluate the operational performance of a soil bin, consisting of displacement and power systems, soil preparation system and measurement system needed to conduct research regarding the dynamics of soil-machine interaction. The soil bin was constructed in the Department of Engineering of UFLA, Lavras, MG. The evaluation was done using the operational performance of a dynamometric car, and a furrow maker at different forward speeds. The speed, power and parameters that characterize physical and mechanical properties of the test soil were measured. The results showed that the dynamometric car efficiently allows simulation of field operations of agricultural equipment.
