Abstract

To improve the thermal environment for finishing swine with high productivity level, this study evaluated forced positive pressure and tunnel-type forced negative pressure ventilation systems, in conjunction with the evaporative cooling. the study was carried out in 90 m long, 11.6 m wide, 3.27 m high shed, with 0.80 m edge, covered with common galvanized steel roofing tiles. the shed was divided into two to accommodate the treatments. an identical shed with natural ventilation served as control. the negative pressure ventilation system, under the experimental conditions, in general, discretely resulted in better comfort conditions and yield.
