Remote learning is a teaching modality that presents challenges and opportunities. It is important to consider these challenges to ensure the inclusion, motivation, and quality of student learning. The pandemic emphasized the need for the implementation of pedagogical strategies in the online environment. The objective of this research is to understand the learning experience of students from UFPE's Executive Secretariat during social distancing. For this elucidation, the evolution of distance learning modalities, the role of technology in education, its benefits, challenges, and perspectives were highlighted. The challenges of emergency remote learning for teachers and students, remote learning as a new educational reality, and the impacts on the social environment for the pedagogical community. The research had a descriptive-exploratory character, using a quantitative approach. The data were collected through an online questionnaire, with closed multiple-choice questions and Likert scale. The results were addressed in tables, demonstrating that students generally evaluated the experience of remote classes positively. The results of this research can guide future decisions about the implementation of more effective and adaptable educational strategies, even in challenging scenarios, such as the pandemic.
