Knowledge of environmental problems is important for discussing and taking action on environmental conservation. Rio Paranaíba is marked by intense agricultural production and few environmental conservation incentive programs. The objective was to verify the identification of environmental problems from the perspective of elementary and high school students, to make them aware of this problem, as well as to highlight the importance of different biomes and their conservation. Specific methodologies were applied to the age groups involving questionnaires, videos, lectures and recreational activities in three schools in the municipality. Elementary school students presented a vision of the globalized environment. The students of Elementary School II and High School presented a "naturalist" view of the environment, not associating nature and society. Students and teachers demonstrated that many of the topics covered during the activities were new to them.
