Abstract

The type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM II) is a highly prevalent endocrine disorder and primary prevention is an important means of controlling it in the population. Thus, this project aimed to carry out educational actions on DM II, aimed at Youth and Adult Education in the municipality of Rondonópolis/MT. Risk factors were measured and lectures and discussions were held with the participants (n=30). No changes were observed in capillary blood glucose, however, more than 40% of students, aged between 12 and 55 years, were in the ranges of overweight and obesity to varying degrees, 20% had blood pressure in the normal-high range and in 13,33% stage I hypertension was observed. Finally, the educational actions carried out allowed, in addition to the acquistion of knowledge, the exchange of experiences on DM II in a democratic way and respecting the different knowledge of the young people and adults involved.
