Perspectives, advances and projections for Stricto Sensu Secretarial Science Graduate Studies implementation

Abstract

This study aims, in general terms, at analyzing the scenario of Secretarial Science lato sensu courses in Brazil, Secretarial Graduate Studies as well as the qualification of professors with a Major in Secretarial Science, looking at the perspectives of stricto sensu Graduate Studies creation in this area. Although its existence in Brazil for almost half a century, there is still no stricto sensu programs offered, essential training for the development and consolidation of the Secretarial area. In this aspect, this research sought to explain the evolution of the Secretariat occupation, addressing aspects such as profile, attributions and main advances, together with a discussion about higher education and graduate studies education in Brazil. For that, a qualitative, descriptive and interpretative study was carried out through documentary research. As main results, it was observed that Secretarial Science course offer reduction, together with the low number of graduated students in graduated courses and the late master's and PhD Secretarial professors’ degree, are factors that directly influence not positively to the development of a stricto sensu course in the area.
