Abstract

The term "Junior Company '', appeared in 1967, in France, and was a government project to encourage the creation of companies in the country. Today, the role of junior companies is to give academics the opportunity for technical improvement through carrying out works that enable the resolution of practical tasks, personal development and appreciation of the profession, in addition to contributing to the development of society, through extension work carried out in its area of ??activity, with the final result of the University / Community interaction. As a way of cooperating for the technical and human formation of the community in general and of the students of Forest Engineering at the Federal University of Santa Maria, Floresta Jr. proposes technical works, lectures and courses, thus facilitating the insertion of academics in the job market, with the creation of a channel to disseminate the profession and contact students with companies and professionals in the field.

É graduado em Engenharia Florestal pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, graduado em Ciências Econômicas pela Universidade de Santa Cruz do Sul, mestrado em Engenharia Florestal pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria e doutorado pela UFSM nas áreas de Manejo Florestal e Economia Florestal. Atualmente é Professor Adjunto do Departamento de Ciências Florestais da UFSM, Diretor Executivo do Centro de Pesquisas Florestais, membro do Conselho Consultivo das Florestas Nacionais de São Francisco de Paula e Canela no Rio Grande do Sul. Tem experiência na área de gestão e planejamento florestal, arranjos produtivos locais de base florestal para o desenvolvimento regional, projetos de neutralização de emissões de carbono através de recuperação de APPs, RL e desenvolvimento de SAFs, desenvolve pesquisas na condução dos remanescentes de Mata Atlântica em propriedades de agricultores familiares visando o desenvolvimento de SAFs como alternativa de renda e qualidade de vida. É líder do Grupo de Pesquisas de Política e Economia Florestal na UFSM com linhas de pesquisas voltadas para implementação de florestas sociais e o aproveitamento energético dos resíduos de biomassa florestal, e líder do Grupo de Pesquisa de Sistemas Agroflorestais e Agrofloresta Familiar, com linhas de pesquisas com florestas de rápido crescimento em SAFs, Florestas Sociais, Manejo de Capoeiras para Produção Agroflorestal e Sistematização de Modelos Agroflorestais.
