Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) poses a challenge to public health, characterized by inflammation of the airways, leading to decreased airflow. Smoking is the primary cause of the disease, and promoting primary prevention is crucial. This account describes the experience of university students during an extension activity on COPD conducted with school students in Maceió, AL. It is an experiential report shared by students from the Medicine program at Centro Universitário Cesmac, who engaged in activities aimed at the primary prevention of COPD through visual aids, games, and distribution of gifts to students. The students actively participated, strengthening health awareness among educational institutions. The extension activity allowed the assessment of the importance of health education in the school environment, using simple and
accessible methods to raise awareness among students on the topic, exceeding expectations regarding student
interest during the activity.
