Abstract

The aim of this work was to study the influence of the age of the buried urban solid residues (RSU) on transport parameters of the heavy metals contained in leachate produced by Fresh RSU. The study was done in the urban solid residues of 15 (RSU_Old) and 8 years (RSU_Mature) old dumps and leachate having a mean concentration of 0.146 mg L-1 of Cu, 0.046 mg L-1 of Cd, 17.2 mg L-1 of Zn and 0.135 mg L-1 of Pb. The data showed that the RSU-old have higher capacity of retaining such metals. The magnitude of retardation factor was Pb>Cu>Zn>Cd.
