This paper proposes to quantitatively monitor the conversion in the spatial use and land cover in the central region of the State of Roraima, using images captured with satellite sensors of the LANDSAT 5 and 8 program, using the ArcGIS 10.1 R geographic information system (SIG) for the years 1984, 1994, 2004 and 2014, succeeding in four thematic maps that served to identify the classes of use and land cover and calculation of the area extension in Hectares (ha). The hypothesis is the existence of few classes of land use and cover, mainly forest for the year 1984. During the years studied it was possible to perceive the conversion of forest areas to pasture. Based on the assumption that Roraima is a member of the Legal Amazon, the impact of the anthropic action converting 29.14% corresponding to 135,691.18 ha of original vegetation in pasture in the image of 2014 explains a lack of inspection and a growth in the mosaic of deforestation. It is proposed to establish recovery measures for the areas that presented a certain pattern of regeneration of the original vegetation.
