Synthesis and characterization of graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (RGO) supercapacitors

Supercapacitors are devices that accumulate electrical energy and have a long-life cycle, high power density and low weight. Despite these properties, they have low capacitance and energy density compared to other devices. To advance the applicability of supercapacitors, it is necessary to develop electrode materials that store a greater amount of energy. With the objective of analyzing the electrochemical properties of new materials applied in supercapacitors. Supercapacitors based on graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (RGO) were developed in this work. GO and RGO morphologies were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and chronoamperometry (AC) and cyclic voltammetry (VC) tests to evaluate the electrochemical performance of supercapacitors. The SEM test results showed that the GO used in the experiment had a porous structure and low crystallinity. According to the test results both supercapacitors have similar capacitance characteristics.
