Abstract

The PID control (proportional, integral and derivative) is important to ensure the standardization and safety of various chemical processes in an industry, as well as the quality of its products. This paper consists in both theoretical and experimental mathematical modelling of the heating tank of the Smar didactic plant III (PD3) for further tuning of the controller to be performed in part B of this study. The didactic plant is located in the Movements and Acoustics Patterns and Industrial Processes Research Lab of the Electrical Engineering Department of the Federal University of Viçosa. For the modeling, it was necessary to obtain parameters of the transfer function of the heating process of the tank, using power steps for constant flows of 200, 400, 600 and 1000 L.h-1 and analyzing the data provided by the Process View program. The results were satisfactory.
