Abstract

The study was done to assess the noise and vibration levels during semi-mechanized pit digging in mountainous region. The data were collected in two areas of eucalyptus cultivation located at longitude 43 º 10’04 .57 “W, latitude 18 º 30 ‘58.25’’S, altitude 993m, and longitude 42 ° 54’ 17”W, latitude 18 º 52 ‘33 “S and altitude 1012 m respectively. A decibel meter was used to measure the noise level and the analysis of vibration was done with the use of a mast model 01 DB. The results showed that the semi-mechanized pit digging generates 99 dB (A) and the forest laborer is exposed to vibration level of 6.98 m / s ². it can be conclude that exposure of forest laborers to noise and vibration levels during semi-mechanized pit digging are higher than recommended, and can cause damage to their health.
