The social issue in the Amazon has particularities, expressed due to the very socio-biodiversity of the region, and should be thought of critically in the academic-professional sphere. This article is the result of bibliographical, documentary and field research, of an exploratory nature, which problematizes in the light of historical and dialectical materialism how the Social Work courses of higher education institutions in the interior of the State of Amazonas treat the Social Issue in the Amazon within the professional training process. The results made explicit the centrality of the social question for the profession, as well as proposing a debate on the commercialization of higher education and the construction of a pedagogical course project that encompasses regional particularities.
