Abstract

The main objective of this article is to analyze the role of the Master Plan of the city of São José de Ribamar (MA), one of the four municipalities of the Great Island of Upaon-Açú, in the preservation of its cultural heritage, based on the update of Complementary Law Nº 645/2006, which deals with the Master Plan of the municipality of São Jose de Ribamar. Having as specific objectives: to investigate the existence of legal and administrative parameters that certify that the Master Plan can guarantee the preservation of the Cultural heritage of the city of São José de Ribamar/MA; identify the devices that contribute to guarantee the cultural identity of the municipality and discuss whether there is a dynamic between public power and civil society, interacting for the preservation of tangible and intangible heritage. It is an interdisciplinary analysis, as it takes into account the transversality of the object's analysis, dialoguing through different fields of knowledge, such as: Public Management in the elaboration and application of a Municipal Master Plan, Heritage, Citizenship, Sustainability, etc. This work was elaborated with documentary data obtained from the Municipality of São José de Ribamar and other sources of bibliographical and documentary research on heritage, citizenship and sustainability.
