The present work consisted in the use of the advanced oxidative process (AOP) Photo-Fenton for the treatment of a commercial water and gasoline effluent, in order to simulate wastewater from gas stations. A three - module plug flow reactor (PFR) was used, with each module being concentric, containing a 15 W UV lamp jacketed in a one - inch diameter borosilicate glass tube. A total of 52 effluent samples were collected under different pH, Fe2+ and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) conditions, in order to evaluate the possible interactions between these variables and the percentage of organic matter removed from the effluent. In this way, the relationship between pH, [Fe2+] and [H2O2], and its influence on the removal of chemical oxygen demand (COD) were evaluated. The results showed that the best conditions for the experiment were: pH = 3, [H2O2] = 100 mM and [Fe2+] = 1.0 mM, conditions that allowed the maximum removal of COD reached in this study.
