The article deals with the Cemitério de Anjinhosde Vereda Funda and the action of the living to bring the dead closer to the sacred. The methodology used in the study is qualitative and anthropological in nature, consisting of the exercise of observation, analysis and interpretation of statements made by interlocutors, as well as the material we accessed in documents, secondary and theoretical sources and, also, in memories that were formed from of our contact with the culture of the sacred in Ceará territories. The results found inform that the agency comes from the parents and relatives of the dead. Following one of the Church's taboos that prohibited the burial of unbaptized individuals in Campo Santo, they established a place for burials in which objects and symbols that refer to religious sacredness are inserted, with theaim of enabling salvation for their deceased children. This cemetery is marked by the presence of small tombs decorated with children's elements, colorful flowers and Catholic saints. Thus, the Anjinhos de Vereda Funda Cemetery, located in São Gonçalo do Amarante, Ceará, presents itself as a sacred space established by people in order to bring dead children closer to the divine.Downloads
