City and society: analysis of the urban landscape of the municipality of Santana do Araguaia-PA

Abstract

Currently, there is a wave of growth, developments, and transformations in the urban territory, which consequently cause a series of urban problems. The urban landscape of a given location comprises the sociocultural expression of the city, which is shown through a diversity of materialization and symbolism that is present in each place and expands in the social, economic, and cultural context. It is intended, here, to analyze the configuration of the urban landscape of the municipality of Santana do Araguaia-PA, from its visual structure, the elements that compose it, the problems that arise and try, in some way, to reflect on the characteristics of socio-spatial, which may contribute in the future to the reformulation and construction of urban projects and public policies for the city. Given the bibliographic research, in-place observations, and analysis of the information, it appears that the municipality is in constant transformation, even after a certain absence of public initiatives for its development. It is concluded then that the municipality has a certain deficiency in quality public spaces, which correspond from the aspects of paving, afforestation, and even the transformation of the uses of these leisure spaces for other purposes.
