This study reports installation of a system to control temperature and velocity of the air in a medicinal plant dryer using a PIC16F877A microcontroller. The air velocity was monitored by an anemometer and controlled by a frequency inverter. The temperature was measured by LM35 sensor and controlled with a TRIAC. The microcontroller performed actions of PID that determines the pulse of a PWM signal, which turns on the frequency inverter and also the TRIAC. The comparison between the manual and automated controls showed that automatic method reduced energy consumption by 63 %.Downloads
