Abstract

The article focuses on examining the spatial dimension of value and the geographic transfer of value based on Marx's theory of value. The category of geographic transfer of value is seen as a dialectical unit that serves as a mechanism for appropriating geographic space. This appropriation takes place through the influence of geographic structures on social actions in a given form of territory. The article argues that the geographic transfer of value is a category that comprises the concrete reality of a territory as a whole. The territory form is formulated through the identification of historical determinations, that is, the historical factors shape and determine the transfer of value within the geographic space. To subsidize the analysis, in the article we used bibliographical research based on Ruy Mauro Marini's theory of dependency. This theory offers a critical framework for analyzing the processes resulting from the uneven productivity of various types of territories. In doing so, it highlights the central role of the territory as a mystified geographic category that allows the most productive capital to appropriate the entire geographic space. In general, the article seeks to explore and critically analyze the relationship between value, geography and the appropriation of space by capital, drawing on Marx's theory of value and Marini's theory of dependency.
